How it works technically
If the source audio is already in a compatible codec — AAC into M4A, for instance — we copy it straight across with no re-encode, which is both faster and lossless. MP3 always requires an encode because almost no video carries MP3 natively; we use LAME at the bitrate you pick. Above 192 kbps the difference is rarely audible on phone speakers or ordinary earbuds.
Frequently asked questions
Which MP3 bitrate should I pick?
192 kbps is the sensible default for music. For speech — lectures, podcasts, interviews — 128 kbps sounds the same and halves the file size. Choose 320 kbps only if you are keeping it for good.
Can I get M4A or WAV instead?
Yes — M4A, AAC and WAV are all available. M4A is usually the best choice because it is often copied without re-encoding, so it is both instant and lossless.
What happens to my file after processing?
It is deleted automatically. Your result is stored in a temporary folder for a short window so you can download it, then removed permanently along with any intermediate files. We do not publish, index, share or keep your media, and we never use it to train AI models.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Everything runs in your browser and on our servers, so it works the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone. There is no app to install and no account to create.
Can I process any video I find online?
Only content you own or are otherwise permitted to process. The service works with publicly accessible links and does not bypass DRM, paywalls, sign-in or any other access control. You are responsible for having the rights to the material you submit.
